HIGHLIGHTS

There was a fall in the number of deals completed in December, relative to previous months.

We combined data from MarktoMarket’s platform and our other sources to estimate the value of deals completed and announced in December 2023.

DEAL COMMENTARY

The largest deal in December was the Nippon Steel Corporation’s acquisition of United States Steel Corporation for £11.8 billion.

SPOTLIGHT TRANSACTIONS

Other deals during December included:

• Archer Capital’s acquisition of The Hoxton Shoreditch and The Hoxton Holborn hotels for £215 million.
• Keywords Studios’ acquisition of The Multiplayer Group for £77 million.
• Serco Group PLC’s acquisition of European Homecare (EHC) for £34 million.

The smaller end of the market witnessed the following deals:

• Spectra Systems Cosporation’s acquisition of Cartor Holdings Ltd. for £15 million.
• iomart Group’s acquisition of Accesspoint Technologies for £6.4 million.
• Bruker UK’s acquisition of Phasefocus Ltd. for up to £5 million.
